South Florida houses age differently. That single fact decides how a circuit is added, what a rewire costs, and why a quote from someone who works mainly in timber-framed construction tends to come apart once the work starts. The second constant is age-specific. Houses from the 1950s and 60s are commonly still on an original 100 or 150-amp service that has since taken on central air, an electric range and a pool pump. Houses built or rewired between roughly 1965 and 1973 frequently have aluminum branch wiring, which is a remediation job rather than a rewire but will be found at inspection. Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels turn up across that whole period and are the one finding that is rarely optional. And everywhere near the water, corrosion is quietly working on the meter enclosure, the disconnect and anything mounted outdoors.
